Concerning Beards was written by Edwin Valentine Mitchell. It was published in 1930, and it is now in the public domain.

Ian Sullivan converted the book to a series of images using the hardware and software of bkrpr. Jim Garrison generated hOCR files with OCRopus 0.3.1. moz-hocr-edit was then used to edit the documents remotely over HTTP. The HTTP server was set up using Apache and Subversion. Specifically, mod_dav_svn was configured to enable SVNAutoVersioning, which allows files to be edited using simple HTTP PUT operations.
